Selling GIF's in 2014 & Now NFT's

Digital art, a long time favorite medium of mine, is now becoming one of the most popular and successful forms of art in the industry. What exactly is digital art might you ask? Digital art refers to art made using different types of electronic devices or softwares; essentially, anything produced using digital media such as illustrations, videos, digital paintings or drawings and more.

The article “’The Most Expensive GIF of All Time’ Is Being Sold for $5,800” written by Megan Garber, was published in September of 2014, years before this new wave of Digital Art was introduced today. The article discusses the sale of a GIF that was sold for a large amount of money. The whole controversy surrounding this article, the sales of digital art, and now the introduction of NFT’s, that even though one person owns this digital art piece, technically everyone on the internet can access and download it. A lot of people at the time this article was published and at the time this GIF was for sale did not understand the reason for it, and that is how a lot of people feel today regarding NFT’s. In my opinion, I believe that the introduction of this new NFT craze is an amazing new opportunity and platform for digital artists to get there art seen and possibly make money from it. I would definitely say this article was before it’s time, and I believe it aged pretty well. I feel that this is only the beginning of digital art platforms and that it will only progress, which is something I am very excited for.
